Match Report 13-09-09

Desborough Youth 7 v 0 Aztec Warriors

A very tough opener for Aztec who were chasing the game from the off.

A strong Desborough attack played some good football and were soon ahead, their dominance showing

to give them a five goal half time lead. The second half was a bit more even and Aztecs failure to make the most of their chances really was their undoing as Desborough killed the game in the last ten minutes with two late goals..

Report 20-09-09

Aztec Warriors 3 v 7 Ise Lodge

Wesley Kirton 2 Bradley Brynes 1

Aztec must be wondering how this result came about after looking in control of the game for forty minutes

and taking a deserved two goal lead through Bradley Byrnes and Man of the Match Wesley  Kirkton.

At this point the game turned on its head when Ise Lodge scored three quick goals to take the lead.

Things got worse as Aztec lost players through injury and Ise really capitalised scoring four more against a

makeshift defensive line with only a single penalty in reply for the home side.

Match Report 04-10-09

Whitworths Youth 14 v 2 Aztec Warriors

Bradley Byrnes 1 Scott Mackenzie 1

What began as a promising start for Aztec, was soon to change as Whitworth broke through the midfield line and on to pressure the Aztec defence. As the game progressed, Aztec allowed the pressure to build and gave Whitworth a 6-0-halftime lead.  Two well deserved goals from Aztecs Bradley Byrnes and Scott Mackenzie came late in the second half, by which time Whitworth had secured their place in the next round by scoring a further 8 goals to give a final score of 14-2.

Match Report 11 -10 -09

Stanwick Rvrs 10 v 3 Aztec Warriors

Bradley Byrnes 1 Oliver Caswell 1 Scott Mackenzie 1

Once again Aztec started second best in the opening exchanges going two goals down early in the game.

The game sprung to life with a goal from Scott McKenzie on 10 minutes and this then signalled goals from either side with the Aztec goals coming from Brad Byrnes and Oliver Caswell making the half time score

5-3 to the home side. In the second half Stanwick steadily built on their lead although Aztec did create more chances, they didn’t finish them off. The final score looking extremely harsh on the lads who didn’t give up

throughout.

Match Report 18-10-09

Aztec Warriors 1 v 3 Finedon Vics

Wesley Kirton 1

A much better all round performance from an Aztec side seeking their first points of the season.

In a competitive game from start to finish Aztec went behind on seven minutes but kept the pressure on Finedon with Wesley Kirkton a particular thorn in the Vics defence. The half finished with a flurry of action.

Vics doubled their lead and Aztec replied with a great solo run and strike from Kirkton.

The second half was pretty even with chances for both sides. Finedon went 3-1 up on 47 minutes and Aztec just could’nt get the breakthrough needed to even up the scoreline.

  Match Report 25-10-09

Rockingham Forest Colts 5 v 4 Aztec Warriors

Wesley Kirton 2 Daniel Smith 2

Both teams performed well against the windy conditions with Rockingham taking the lead within the first minutes and controlling much of the first half. Aztec reacted by scoring two against Rockingham’s five by half time.  A much improved Aztec team came out in to the second half to produce a further two goals and prevented Rockingham adding further to their score sheet. Aztecs captain and goalkeeper gave another worthy display throughout to earn him M.O.M.

Match Report 08-11-09

Gt Doddington 10 v 3 Aztec Warriors

Wesley Kirton 3

With Aztec yet to get their first win this season, this was always going to be a difficult match against top division Great Doddington. Aztec allowed their opponents to dominate the first half with three early goals, one midway and two late goals (including a penalty) by half time. Although Great Doddington went on to score four more goals, in the second half, Aztec were in much better shape, creating some good opportunities that earned Wesley Kirkton a hat trick.

Match Report 22-11-09

Aztec Warriors 1 v 2 Finedon Vics Yth Inv Cup

Wesley Kirton 1

A highly competitive and entertaining cup tie in which Finedon edged the game with two first half goals,.

All credit though to Aztec who kept their heads and pressured the Vics with some good football, getting their reward with another goal for Wes Kirkton on 47 minutes. Unfortunately though despite constant pressure and stout defending they could not find a equaliser which would have been well deserved. All credit to both sides who played very well despite difficult conditions.

Match Report 13-12-09

Ise Lodge 7 v 2 Aztec Warriors

Wesley Kirton 1 Daniel Smith 1

Aztec were hoping to make this their first win of the season. This match was full of chances for both sides, with Ise Lodge capitalising on most of theirs. Ise were first to score with Aztec responding within minutes with a free kick from Wesley Kirkton. Ise went on to score another giving them a goal lead at half time. More fortune for Ise Lodge in the second half with a further five goals produced. Aztec could only pull back one more with a determined effort from Daniel Smith.

Match Report 24-01-10

Aztec Warriors 0 v 1 Rockingham Forest

Aztec were cruelly denied a share of the spoils in injury time of this end to end game in which both teams

competed from start  to finish. The first half was very even with neither team taking advantage, defences of both sides comfortably controlling the game. Both teams wanted to win in the second half with Aztec creating the majority of chances. But it was in injury time that Rockingham cruelly snatched all three  points just breaking through the Aztec back line to win the game.

Match Report 07-02-10

Aztec Warriors 1 v 10 Gt Doddington

Wesley Kirton 1

Gt Doddington commanded the first half right from the off. A goal within the first minute was the first of seven that was to secure a comfortable lead at half time. Aztec  played  better in the second half which gave them some chances including a consolation goal from Wesley Kirkton. But this was never going to be Aztecs day as Gt Doddington added a further three goals, giving them a much deserved and comfortable win.

 Match Report 14-02-10

Aztec Warriors 1 v 5 Stanwick Rovers

Joesph Chapman 1

A ten man Aztec team worked hard to hold off  Stanwick, allowing just a one-goal lead at half time.  Both teams continued to battle in the second half with much to play for.  With another goal coming early for Stanwick, minutes into the second, Aztec tried to respond but could not hold off from Stanwick’s  attacks which gave them another three goals including an own goal.  Joseph Chapman scored Aztec’s only goal of the match in the 56th minute. All credit goes to Aztec  who continued to push on but  with very little return for their efforts.

Match Report 28-02-10

Aztec Warriors 4 v 8 Borough Alliance

Wesley Kirton 3 Oliver Caswell 1

A hat trick from Wesley Kirkton and a late goal from Oliver Caswell was not enough for Aztec who are still looking for their first win of the season. Aztec failed to take the advantage on the few opportunities they were given. An even first half, but Borough Alliance dominated the second half by adding five goals to their first half tally of three, giving the visitors a much deserved win.

Match Report 07-03-10

Finedon Vics 10 v 2 Aztec Warriors

Wesley Kirton 1 Oliver Caswell 1

Aztec started convincingly with an early goal produced by Oliver Caswell. Finedon retaliated by scoring three within ten minutes. Despite all of Aztecs’ efforts, they were not able to finish from the opportunities they created but Finedon did by nailing a fourth just before half time. Finedons fortunes continued through in to the second half with another six goals including a gift own goal from Wesley Kirkton, who later redeemed himself by scoring from the penalty spot. A good performance from Finedon but a score line that does not reflect on Aztecs efforts.

Match Report 14-03-10

Aztec Warriors 0 v 10 Desborough Town

A match played in the true spirit of the game. Aztec performed well, fielding nine players against a strong attacking Desborough side. Desborough opened the scoring within minutes and with continued pressure totalled six by half time. Aztecs defence, along with skipper and goal keeper Ben Daniels minimised Desboroughs chances in the second half, which allowed Aztec to produce some good attacking play but were sorely denied any result in spite of their efforts.
