Aztec Match Reports & Scorers
Under 9s Braves Aztec Braves 1 v 1 Weekley Marvels
Cameron Hale 1
A good start from the braves saw a well taken strike from Cameron Hale hit the onion bag. The rest of the first half was possibly even between the two. But it was Weekley who scored just before the break to lift there spirits. The second half was very much the same as the first with both teams with the same amount of possession. If we were to pick a contender for the man of the match today it would be Jake Thirkill who was solid at the back.
Under 9s Warriors Aztec Warriors 5 v 0 Thrapston Yellow
Naveed Butt 2 Lewis Patterson 2 Jack Gracey 1
A very decent performance this week from the warriors, proving they were up to the task adapting to the new formation. They took the lead within two minutes through Naveed Butt he then doubled his tally later in the first half, Lewis Patterson also scored two in the first and that’s how it stood till half time. The second half saw a lot of rotating to give others more time on the field only see us score the only goal of the second half this was knocked in from close range from Jack Gracey who was super today. all in all a vary good at times passing display
Under 11s Aztec Youth 0 v o Kettering Generals
A delayed match because of a frosty pitch was soon worth the wait as a fantastic football match ensued. Two very competitive sides cancelled each other out in the first half as defences were on top, Niall McCormack impressed as MOM. Aztec came out strong in the second half as birthday boy Kieran Johnson was snapping at the heels like a poachers trap. Aztec pushed forward and were rewarded with a penalty kick, which the excellent Generals keeper saved. This game really was a credit to the league. A very entertaining nil nil draw.
Under 12s Braves Whitworths Youth 1 v 6 Aztec Braves
James Denton 3 Alex Forward 3
The game began as “dancing on ice” with Aztec gliding into the lead when James Denton scored. However 10 men Whitworths leveled with cracking long range effort for 1-1 half time. Aztec upped their game in the second half with Alex Forward scoring a hat-trick and Denton going on to complete his. Whitworths played with great commitment despite being a man down especially in the conditions
Under 12s Warriors Aztec Warriors 0 v 3 Desborough Town
A gutsy Aztec performance against top of the table Desborough . From the off Aztec took the game to them but failed to capitalise on the chances that came their way. It was only on the 24th minute that Desborough slipped the defence to take the lead. An early second half goal doubled that lead and it was only 10 minutes from time that they made the game safe with the third. Overall the lads worked extremely hard and deserved much more from the game
Under 15s Aztec Youth 0 v 3 Burton Youth
Aztec tasted defeat again with only themselves to blame, dominating much of the first period but guilty of wasting many chances they somehow found themselves 1-0 down at the break. Burton seemed spured on by their goal and dominated large periods of the second half with no response from the hosts, going on to score twice more for a deserved victory!
